Introduction

Optimal Therapy provides a service to assess and rehabilitate sporting injuries in preparation for return to sport. In addition to this all aches, pains and injuries can be treated whilst the massage service is available to anyone especially if you want to relax.

I am Roberta Lee and recently graduated from Coventry University gaining a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Sports Therapy. Over the past few years I have had experience providing sports massage at Coventry City F.C. and now work with the Academy team. In September 2010 I provided massage at the Great North Run for Scope. Through working at the Helen Ley Centre, Leamington I have experience working with people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

I understand the importance of returning to sport as soon as possible after injury as I have participated in many sports at varying levels, as well as knowing the effect an injury can have on sports players.

Clinic

Optimal Therapy is currently based at centres in the south of Coventry and appointments can be arranged to suit: daytimes, evenings and weekends.

It can also be possible for a mobile service to be provided.

Services

Sports Therapy - The initial appointment will be spent taking the history of the injury and physically assessing the area. Treatment will begin and a rehabilitation programme designed. If after 3 sessions it is felt that the programme is not working then a referral may be made for further assessment therefore not delaying the rehabilitation of the injury.

Prevention - It is possible to prevent injuries by assessing the body for imbalances, tightness, weakness and various other movement aspects. Stretching and strengthening exercises can be provided and deep tissue massage can also help to prevent injuries caused by tightness in muscles.

Sports Massage - This has many positive effects, in addition to feeling more relaxed after exercise it promotes the repair of soft tissue damage, reduces the effects of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and can reduce stiffness.
A pre/post event massage service can also be provided, if required and subject to availability attendance to the event itself could be arranged. Pre event massages increase the blood flow to the muscles, warm the muscles up and prepare an athlete for their event, whereas a post event massage aims to reduce the lactate within the muscles and help prevent DOMS, it also helps relax an athlete after the event.

Remedial Massage - massages can also be used to release tension built within various areas of the body, as well as soothing aching muscles and helping to relax generally.
